The product
Pulsetto is a transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulator that wraps around the back of the neck and sends mild electrical pulses through two contact points. Worn for about four minutes a day, it is designed to move the body from a stressed fight-or-flight state toward rest-and-digest, supporting sleep, focus and stress recovery. The companion app offers programmes such as Stress, Sleep, Burnout, Focus and Anxiety, and the device is CE-marked as a wellness product rather than a medical device. It sells direct to consumers at roughly EUR 242 for the Lite and EUR 278 for the newer FIT model, with optional conductive gel and travel cases. Its differentiated claim is being the only consumer bilateral cervical tVNS device, stimulating both sides of the neck at once.
How they did it
Pulsetto was founded in Lithuania in 2021 by Povilas Sabaliauskas and Vitalijus Majorovas, who met through the EIT Health community. Both came to vagus nerve stimulation through personal crises: Povilas's father was deteriorating and Vitalijus's wife suffered debilitating cluster headaches and migraines. Rejected by roughly 300 investors, they convinced one to fund a prototype, then built hardware, firmware, software and marketing in nine months with a team of just three people. In 2022 an Indiegogo campaign funded on its first day, raised about EUR 250,000, and became one of Lithuania's top three crowdfunding campaigns. Kilo Health then invested EUR 500,000, and the company later raised EUR 2M from Scale Wolf as it pursued military and clinical applications. The brand grew 3x year over year for three consecutive years from 2022, reaching 100,000+ users across Europe and North America and partnering with NBA player Domantas Sabonis.
Why it worked
- Founders solved their own family crises, giving an authentic origin story
- Four-minute neck sessions make clinical-grade stimulation usable at home
- Aggressive price undercuts medical vagus-nerve devices priced in the thousands
- HSA/FSA eligibility and clinical studies lower purchase friction
